Nurture – Me
'Nurture Me' is to provide Education Assistance to the children at Walajabad. We are right now working with 80 little children, who are equipped to attain sustainable livelihood. The parents are sensitized to put in their fullest efforts to make their child take a remarkable place in the society. The children will take supplementary class with us at the New Life Centre to cultivate knowledge and better understanding about their subjects..
PROBLEMS OF CHILDREN IDENTIFIED IN THE PROJECT LOCATIONS
- Lack of extra coaching for our focused children (orphan and semi –orphan) who pursue education at the government schools
- Our focused children do not have opportunities to ventilate their stress, recreational activities, counseling, and professional guidance.
- Very less opportunities to develop their innate talents
- Our focused children are malnourished and suffer low Weight
- They get into tea shops, petty shops, general stores, mechanic shops, cycle puncture shops, vegetable shops and looking after their siblings
- Their parents are estranged and disturbed
OBJECTIVES OF THE PROJECT
- Educational Assistance everyday in the evening
- Nutritious food for the children
PROGRAMMES THROUGH THE PROJECT
- Providing school uniforms, study materials and stationery items
- Library Visit twice a month
- Indoor and Outdoor games
- Educational tour once a year
- Career guidance and General Knowledge classes for children
- Counseling for Parents and Adolescence
- Medical check-up for children and their parents
- Medical help for the mothers of our focused children
- Income generation program for the widow mothers
- Skill training program for the widow mothers
- Community level awareness on prevention of children from child abuses through rally, human chain and paper and electronic media
- Treatment for drug addicts
- Counseling for widows and widowers on life scoping skills
OUTCOME OF THE PROJECT
- As an average of 100 poor children per village will get good education through our free Educational Assistance Program.
- Through this, the education status of our children and simultaneously the family status will be raised in future
- Focused children are given opportunities to develop hidden talents
- Child centered cultural program are promoted in the villages
- Children will get an opportunity to be exposed to the outside world and equip themselves with knowledge
- Training for the community alert groups to protect children from child abuses
